Bhadrak: A woman Zilla Parishad (ZP) member of Bhadrak was misbehaved with by two BJD MLAs Byomkesh Ray and Muktikant Mandal during a Zilla Parishad meeting at the office of the Rural Development department in the district today.

As per reports, a heated exchange transpired between the BJP ZP member Ranjita Swain and the two BJD MLAs during the meeting after the former alleged that discussions on Central programmes are being intentionally neglected.

"I tried to know why Central schemes cannot be discussed during the ZP meeting. Why only State government schemes? But suddenly the Chandabali and Dhamnagar MLAs shouted at me asking me get out of the meeting room," alleged Ranjita.

However, Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Ray refuted the allegations and said, "The allegations are totally false. As she was continuously misbehaving with the collector, we tried to stop her."

Ranjita has reportedly lodged a police complaint against the two legislators in this connection.

Meanwhile in response to the incident, senior leader Baijayant Panda tweeted: "This, by members of a party which has been pushing for 33% women's reservation. The late Biju Patnaik, after whom this party is named, had also supported it decades ago and coined the slogan Maa ku samman, gaon ku kaama. His spirit must be turning in its grave... Glad i left."
