Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader, Tilottama Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the party and her post in Odisha Women Commission today. She cited that Odisha chief minister & party president Naveen Patnaik has failed to take action against a party MLA, who misbehaved with her on February 25 and due to such inaction she has decided to quit.

Tilottama said that the State government which raises slogans on women empowerment is not able to provide security to women in the State.

Earlier on February 25, Tilottama had brought allegation of misbehaviour against party’s Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das. As per her allegation, the Jajpur MLA berated her while she had visited Das’ house for a discussion on distribution of party tickets for the upcoming 2019 polls.

Tilottama said that she had apprised the chief minister about the incident through an email and sought action against the MLA. However, the CM’s alleged apathy over the incident forced her take the decision to quit the party and her membership of Women Commission, she added.

“I had apprised the CM of the incident that took place on that day in writing, but was not able to meet him. I submitted by resignation from the post of Women Commission and membership,” said Tilottama, who was the president of Kalahandi unit of Biju Mahila Janata Dal.
