Woman dies after being thrashed by son in Dhenkanal village

Dhenkanal: An elderly woman succumbed to her injuries today after she was thrashed by her son in Koi village under Kankadahada police limits of Dhenkanal.

The incident took place when the woman Pohala Dehury tried to stop a quarrel between her two sons Bhagban Dehury and Jogendra Dehury.

As per reports, Bhagban lost his cool and hit Pohala with a wooden plank following leaving her greviously injured.

Although she was rushed to Kamakshyanagar hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Laxmi Dehury, wife of the accused, claimed that her husband was drunk when he thrashed the victim. "I was at the home with my child when the incident happened. My husband was drunk when he physically assaulted my mother-in-law," Lakshmi said.

Meanwhile, police have detained Bhagban after a complaint was filed by Pabitra Dehury, another son of the victim. "An investigation is currently underway," Inspector-in-charge of Kankadahada police station Subash Chandra Panda said.
