Bhubaneswar: The newly appointed IPL chairman Ranjib Biswal on Sunday wanted the cash-rich IPL should shed the current tainted image that has been tarnished by the series of spot-fixing scandals and maintain its cleanliness.

“I will try to make IPL a clean cricket tournament. Besides, I will also see that IPL matches will be played in a better way with every passing season,” IPL chairman Ranjib Biswal told OTV.

“Undoubtedly it is a very major responsibility and I'd like to thank BCCI for electing me IPL chairman, ”said the former chairman of the National Cricket Academy.

On being asked about the spot-fixing and betting scandal in IPL, the 43-yr old, often seen as a 'lucky mascot' for the national cricket team said, “I'll call a meeting soon to review all these incidents related to IPL.  Also I'll hold discussions to make a system of checks and balances to make cricket corruption free.”

The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president and a former India under-19 captain however assured more IPL matches for Odisha in future.

“There is a venue in Odisha for IPL matches. But the local franchisee Sunrisers Hyderabad must agree for the matches. I will try my best to make it happen that more IPL matches will be played in Odisha.”
