Wild tusker strays into human settlement in Angul

Angul: Panic gripped local residents after a wild tusker strayed into a human settlement in Chhendipada block in district here on Saturday. A senior official of the forest department informed that the elephant might have strayed into the human settlement after being separated from the herd.

A massive operation has been launched to drive back the jumbo into the forest. Special squad has been formed and fire crackers are being used to keep the pachyderm out of the human settlement.

Though elephant moved to the nearby Mamuria forest, the residents of Chhendipada and the nearby villages of Mamuria, Saluikhaman are in still in a state of panic. They are demanding concrete measures to keep the jumbos away from their villages.
