The political discourse in Odisha has intensified after suspended BJD leader Shreemayee Mishra once again questioned the party’s leadership, including Naveen Patnaik, and took a veiled dig at VK Pandian through a social media post.
The political tussle escalated following the entry of Jay Dholakia, son of former BJD MLA and Minister late Rajendra Dholakia, into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, just days ahead of the Nuapada bypolls.
Soon after Jay Dholakia parted ways with the BJD, party leader Pratap Jena stated that Jay is the adopted son of the late Rajendra Dholakia and that Rajendra’s blood does not flow in Jay’s veins.
Taking a swipe at Jena’s remarks, Mishra launched a veiled attack on social media, indirectly targeting VK Pandian. In his post, Mishra questioned whose blood is flowing in the “fake sadhu’s” veins and why the BJD leader is following his directives, further stoking the political controversy.
“If Pratap Jena claims, Jay Dholakia does not carry the blood of the late Rajendra Dholakia, then one may ask which great Odia luminary’s blood flows in the body of this so-called “fake sadhu,” whose orders he is following?.... Humanity must remain above politics. Odia culture teaches us this important lesson,” Mishra’s post read.
Though Jena did not respond to Shreemayee Mishra’s post, he commented on public sentiment regarding Jay Dholkia’s move.

“People are not in favour of Jay Dholkia’s decision to join the BJP. It will have no impact,” Jena said.
