West Bengal woman gang raped in captivity for 10 days in Odisha

Puri: A woman hailing from West Bengal was allegedly gang raped after being held captive by a youth for 10 days in Konark.

The survivor was rescued by the Fire Services personnel today in critical condition. She has been admitted to Gop community health centre, informed sources.

“I hail from Kolkata. I met another woman around a year ago who lured me on the pretext of providing a job and forced me into prostitution,” the survivor said.

Around 10 days back, a youth forcibly took me and raped me, she alleged.

“I was raped by multiple men inside a house for 10 days,” the survivor said.

Konark Police Station IIC, Sanjeev Pradhan said that “A West Bengal woman has been rescued. As per allegations she was engaged in immoral activities by some local youths and was not being paid. We have detained the landlord of the house from where the lady was rescued. Investigation is underway.”


“She (rape survivor) has complained of fever and pain in lower abdomen. She is being provided treatment,” said Jasmine Afroz, health officer of Gop community health centre.
