Bhubaneswar: The newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Odisha BK Hariprasad on Thursday lambasted the ruling BJD for not reaching out to the common men on development front.

Addressing the media on his maiden visit to the State after being assigned the new role Hariprasad said, “We’ll expose the ruling BJD government’s all round failure before the common mass. It has done nothing for the people in the last 13 years and they must know what the government has done for them.”

Hariprasad exhuming confidence to win the 2014 LS polls said, “Surely the State unit under the leadership of Jayadev Jena will dethrone BJD and, Congress would replace the ruling party in the ensuing polls.”

The party’s focus to strengthen its base at the grassroots level, which Rahul Gandhi had expressed during his two-day Odisha visit earlier this year was evident when Hariprasad stated that the party would go to the district and block level for which a road map was being planned.

The Congress heir apparent had held deliberations with party functionaries and office bearers from 16 organisational districts as part of the exercise to bolster the prospects of Congress in the coming elections.

According to sources the party, which has been out of power in Odisha since 2000, is now pinning hope on both the two new heads - Hariprasad and Jayadev to improve the party’s poll prospects.
