Bolangir: It seems that Crime Branch is not leaving any stones unturned to secure conviction of Punjilal Meher, the mastermind of Patnagarh parcel bomb explosion that left two persons including newlywed Soumyasekhar Sahu dead in February.

The owner and the staff of the concerned courier agency through which the killer parcel was sent, have identified Punjilal during a Test Identification (TI) Parade.

Sources said the officials of the investigating agency have got some vital evidences to establish that Punjilal had visited Raipur via Kantabanji Station as some people claimed to have spotted him.

Moreover, Punjilal has also been caught on the CCTV camera at one of the parking lots near the Kantabanji Station railway station where he had parked his motorcycle, informed sources.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch has also recorded the statements of the 'key eye-witnesses' who spotted Punjilal near the station under section 161 of the CrPC.

All such facts and evidences will be vital during trial of the case and the investigating agency is also working on establishing the 'sequence of events' of the crime, said sources.

Apart from this, the forensic examination of the remains collected from the dustbin in front of Punjilal's house has confirmed the presence of gun powder, added sources.

Crime Branch IG, Arun Bothra said that they have adequate evidence against Punjilal right from the day one including the making of the parcel bomb, his visits to Raipur and the courier agency and the letter written by him to mislead the investigation.
