Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area formed over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy downpour in many parts of Odisha in the next 12 hours, informed Met.

Under the impact of the monsoon trough line which is tilting southwestwards, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bolangir, Nuapada, Sonepur and Nabarangpur.

Due to prevailing conditions over Odisha and neighbouring coast, Met has issued yellow warning for the districts of Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Bargarh and Sambalpur, where the amount of rainfall will be slightly less.

Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely along and off Odisha coast, westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal.

People staying in low-lying areas have been cautioned in view of the heavy rain forecast. Also, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during the next 48 hours as sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough.
