Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for nine districts in Odisha on Sunday.

People in Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh and Malkangiri districts have been asked to remain alert till 1PM today.

Moreover, several parts of Odisha will also continue to receive heavy rainfall as the low pressure over North-West Bay of Bengal turned into a depression yesterday.

Met sources further informed that Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Nuapada districts will experience heavy to very heavy rain today.

Heavy rain yesterday had also adversely affected normal life across Odisha while similar forecast has been issued for isolated parts today.

On Saturday, 16 blocks in Odisha had recorded rainfall of more than 200 mm while as many as 35 blocks recorded rainfall between 100 mm and 200 mm.
