Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre. Bhubaneswar today issued thunderstorm and lightning alert and heavy rainfall warning for several districts in the State.

As per the latest weather bulletin, thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in the districts of Kalahandi, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Cuttack, Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj and Boudh. Besides, heavy rainfall is likely to lash several parts of Sundergarh and Keonjhar district.

Meteorologist Charan Behera informed that several parts of north, coastal and south interior Odisha will also experience rainfall today.

"A cyclonic circulation is now active over Bay of Bengal and several parts of the State will experience moderate to heavy rainfall today under its impact," said Behera.

Behera further stated that the intensity of rainfall will gradually decrease from tomorrow.

Several parts of Odisha also witnessed rainfall in the past 24 hours with Niali in Cuttack recording a highest rainfall of 117 mm, followed by 7mm in Kendraapara and 98mm in Mayurbhanj district.
