Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha will witness an increase in rainfall activity from today as a low pressure system has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas.

The low pressure is likely to intensify and will trigger rainfall across the State, as per the latest forecast of the Regional Meteorological Department.

On the other hand, many parts of Odisha experienced heavy rainfall yesterday due to the formation a cyclonic circulation over West-central Bay of Bengal and southern coast of Andhra Pradesh.

At least five persons were killed in lightning strike incidents reported from different parts of the State yesterday.

Two people were killed in lightning strike at Oupada block in Balasore district. Similarly, two persons including a woman died while three other sustained injuries after lightning struck them at Bengapatia village under Danagadi tehsil in Jajpur district yesterday.
