Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted that seven districts in Odisha will receive extremely heavy rainfall tomorrow.

As per the latest bulletin, ‘Red Warning’ has been issued for Sundergarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Nuapada and Jharsuguda districts.

It is pertinent to mention that several parts of Odisha are experiencing flood-like situation owing to heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. The situation is grim in Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh districts.

“The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and north Odisha coast now lies over southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha. As a cyclonic circulation is active, the system is likely to become more marked in the next 48 hours,” IMD’s bulletin read.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm warning has also been issued for several parts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Koraput and Rayagada districts for Thursday.
