Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological department has once again issued thunderstorm and rainfall alert for several parts of Odisha, just hours after warning about moderate thunderstorm in at least 10 districts of the State.

As per the extended weather warning, the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD here has forecast that moderate thunderstorm/lightning and moderate rainfall likely to continue at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Bolangir till 11 PM today.

Earlier the Met centre had issued rainfall alert for one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Koraput between 2.30 PM and 6.30 PM today.

After recording heavy rainfall on the first day of the onset of monsoon, yesterday, most places of the interior state and some coastal regions received lesser amount of rainfall.

Paradip and Jharsuguda received the maximum amount of rainfall with 12.2 mm, while Puri and Malkangiri registered 10.0 and 9.2 mm of rainfall in last 24 hours. Capital Bhubaneswar recorded 2.2 mm of rainfall on Saturday.

The meteorological centre has forecast that even though a Low Pressure system is moving towards north Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas, there is no forecast for heavy rainfall in the State.
