Weather Alert: Cold wave to continue in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail across Odisha for another 4-5 days, informed Indian Meteorological Department sources.

While Bhubaneswar, Angul and Titlagarh experienced cold wave conditions yesterday, interior parts of Odisha are likely to witness extreme cold conditions in the next 24 hours. These areas may have some relief from cold wave subsequently, but the temperatures will remain 2-3 degrees below normal, the Meteorological Department sources stated.

The temperature dropped below 10 degrees Celsius at 19 places across the State yesterday. While Daringibadi recorded the lowest temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, temperature at Pulbani was at 4.5 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneswar recorded 9.5 while Cuttack was a notch colder at 9.4 degrees Celsius.

Sudarshan Mishra, weather expert at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said “There is movement of dry and cold air over Odisha for which the temperatures are staying below normal. Cold wave conditions are likely to continue.”
