Extending his Diwali greetings through his artwork, Pattnaik used around 1,000 earthen diyas to craft the sculpture, blending art with a message of sustainability and national self-reliance.

The artwork also carries PM Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

Through this initiative, Pattnaik aims to inspire people to appreciate indigenous craftsmanship and promote locally made products. His sand sculpture not only symbolises devotion but also reflects an environmental and social message for the festival of lights, as sources said.

Appeal for a Safe and Green Diwali

Pattnaik urged everyone to celebrate Diwali safely by using green firecrackers to minimise pollution. He has also called upon people to support eco-friendly celebrations and to recognise the creativity and skill of local artisans.

Sharing his thoughts, Pattnaik said, “On the occasion of Diwali, we created a sand art of Goddess Kali using over a thousand diyas. We have also included the message of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through this effort, we wish to encourage everyone to follow the spirit of self-reliance, support local art, and exchange gifts made by our own people.”

The artist’s creation at the Puri beach has drawn considerable public attention, symbolising devotion, environmental awareness, and the spirit of self-reliance in this year’s Diwali celebrations.
