Bhubaneswar/Rourkela: Sundergarh MP Jual Oram on Wednesday confessed that he was upset after failing to get a Cabinet berth in the Narendra Modi government 2.0. It is for the first time that Oram expressed his feelings publicly.

While addressing a felicitation programme held at Rourkela yesterday, the five-term MP said, "I am also a human being. I felt hurt when I couldn't become a minister. Media reports were there that my name was being discussed for ministerial berth. I felt like I would get it, but it didn’t happen."

Oram, who is BJP’s tribal face in Odisha, further said that he wanted to attend the oath-taking ceremony but he had to give it a miss as his wife was not interested to be a part of the ceremony.

However, after the oath-taking ceremony on May 30, the former Union Tribal Affairs Minister had said, "I had the opportunity to become a Union Minister in the BJP's first term and now, some other leader will have the opportunity. This is the sign of a healthy democracy."

Meanwhile, Oram's name is now being considered for the Lok Sabha Speaker’s post, sources said. He was also included in the party’s newly-selected parliamentary executive committee along with Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
