Raigarh/ Bhubaneswar: With Raigarh Police cracking the sensational 2016 double murder case by arresting prime accused ex-MLA Anup Sai, focus has now shifted towards what would be the next course of action of cops to ensure that the case reaches its logical conclusion.

Moreover, deceased Kalpana Das’ ex-husband on Friday demanded death penalty for Anup Sai for killing his 14-year-old daughter.

“What was the fault of my daughter who was a brilliant student? He (Anup Sai) should be hanged for such gruesome murder,” said Sunil Srivastav, ex-husband of Kalpana.

According to Sunil, he had married Kalpana but started to stay separately after 2004. They finally got separated after a formal divorce in 2011.

“Both my parents were sick and Kalpana, who was very ambitious and had big dreams, wanted me to stay with her separately. Then we mutually agreed for divorce,” informed Sunil.

Sunil further claimed that he always wanted to keep his daughter but his ex-wife was not even allowing him to meet her.

“Sai had initially kept Kalpana at a house in CDA in Cuttack and later they shifted to Bhubaneswar. It was only after divorce, he came to know about such things,” Sunil added.

Not only Sunil, deceased Kalpana’s sister too has demanded capital punishment for Anup Sai for the heinous crime.

Earlier yesterday, Sai, the former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and ex-MLA, was arrested by Chakradhar Nagar Police of Chhattisgarh for his alleged involvement in the double murder of Kalpana and her daughter in 2016.

According to reports, Sai along with his driver had allegedly killed Kalpana and her 14-year old daughter Pravati alias Bably and disposed their bodies in Chhattisgarh.
