This announcement was made by the sub-committee chairman, Girish Chandra Murmu, following a detailed security review meeting. Discussions focused on both internal and external safety of the world-famous Vaishnavite shrine, which attracts millions of devotees each year.

Hence, to ensure uninterrupted communication without compromising on security, walkie-talkie devices will soon be introduced for authorised personnel.

Murmu clarified that these measures are not intended to inconvenience anyone but are purely aimed at bolstering the temple’s security framework.

The decision aligns with previous efforts to preserve the sanctity and order of one of India’s holiest pilgrimage sites.

“Surveillance equipment is required to curb any sort of security breach. At present, we are carrying out frisking activities, but surveillance has to be strengthened. We are asking the police personnel not to use mobile phones inside the temple premises,” Head of the Sub-Committee (Security) said to mediapersons after the review meeting.

“Besides, we will introduce closed-circuit walkie-talkie devices soon, so that no one will take mobile phones into the temple,” the sub-committee chairman stated.

When asked if this restriction includes servitors as well, Murmu asserted, “Yes.”

“Necessary arrangements will also be made for the temple Sevayats (servitors) to facilitate communication. This restriction will not be imposed on anyone. Rather, it will be observed with the cooperation of one and all,” Chairman Murmu expressed.

“We do not have any intention to put anyone into trouble, but at the same time, the temple’s security cannot be compromised. Whatever security measures are needed for the betterment of the temple, will certainly be taken,” Chairman Murmu added.
