A political uproar has erupted in Odisha over the security provided to former 5T Chairman VK Pandian
During the BJD government, as many as 72 police officials were deployed for Pandian’s security. Yesterday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan raised questions in the State Assembly regarding Pandian’s security arrangements, without explicitly naming him.
The issue triggered intense political reactions on Saturday. The Congress alleged that the BJP and the BJD are hand-in-glove, questioning why no action is being taken against Pandian.
"There is no merit in the allegations, as they are merely an attempt to divert public attention from the government’s failures. If money from the state exchequer was spent to deploy 72 police personnel for Pandian’s security, why has no investigation been initiated? Where has Pandian gone, and why is he being kept hidden? The double-engine government is committing double fraud against the people. Why has he not been brought under the purview of investigation so far?" asked Congress leader Ashok Das.
Responding to this, the BJP asked, “Who is Pandian? Why was he given such security?” The party further stated that a thorough investigation will certainly be conducted, and necessary action will be taken whenever required.

"Why are they behaving like this? BJD has nothing left now. What more can you expect from them? Whenever an investigation has been required, it has been conducted, and if needed in the future, it will also be carried out. Given the internal turmoil within the BJD, a question mark has been raised over whether the party will even continue to exist. Investigation will definitely be conducted, and whoever is found guilty will face action," said BJP leader Saroj Padhi.
In response, the BJD stated that an investigation should be conducted instead of indulging in rhetoric.
"The government belongs to them, and investigative agencies like the CBI, Vigilance, ED, and Crime Branch also function under their control. Why are they indulging in rhetoric instead of conducting a proper investigation? They are spreading lies. The BJD came to power in Odisha by promoting negativity, and the government was formed by accident," said BJD leader Sarada Jena.
