Berhampur: Health officials in Ganjam district of Odisha have launched a drive to administer vitamin-A dose to children in measles-hit Dasiamaripalli and villages within its five-km radius.
 
Forty-five more children were found infected with the disease since Friday.
 
With this, the total number of affected children increased to 67, while the number of suspected measles cases stood at 30, official sources said.
 
"We have decided to administer vitamin-A doses to all children up to the age of 5 years. As many as 96 children in the measles-hit villages have already been administered vitamin-A," said additional district medical officer (family welfare) Sukanti Mishra.
 
Vitamin-A solution would improve children's immunity, she said.
 
Besides, a six-day special immunisation drive to vaccinate children upto 2 years would kick off in the district from tomorrow. The children, who have already taken the first dose of measles vaccine, will take second dose during the drive, she said.
