Visakha Express Engine Rolls With AC Coaches, Leaves Behind Other Bogies!
Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time this morning after some bogies of Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express got detached from the engine minutes after leaving Balugaon railway station in Khurda district.
According to some passengers, the engine rolled with the AC coaches and left behind all other bogies. It was later found that there was a gap between two coaches when the train left Balugaon station and due to a glitch in the locking arrangement of two coaches, some bogies got detached.
Senior officials of East Coast Railway (ECoR) informed, “It appears to be on account of a defect in a particular locking arrangement joining two coaches. The issue will be checked again at Berhampur and Visakhapatnam.”
“All passengers are safe and the train is being escorted by coach repairing staff,” ECoR said in a statement.
Meanwhile in another incident, passengers of Digha Express had a close shave after cracks were detected in railway tracks near Tilaru station in Andhra Pradesh.
After detecting the cracks, an alert railway staff stopped the train Digha Express coming from Howrah for nearly one and half hours. The train left for its scheduled destination following necessary repair works.
