Bhubaneswar: Ever since the State government has directed officials and law makers to inspect the implementation of 5T model of governance, Ministers as well as the local MLAs along with government officials have been making surprise visits to schools to gauge the teaching system and the quality of food served to the children.

Taking advantage of this, two miscreants posing as journalists visited several schools in Chhendipada block of Angul district a few days back reportedly for an inspection. Not only this, citing that there were irregularities in the school management and sub-standard quality of food served to the students during Mid-day meal, the miscreants allegedly sought bribe from the teachers by threatening them.

When the villagers and teachers present at the spot inquired, the miscreants holding channel booms in their hands identified themselves as journalists of 'Adyasa' and 'Pratigyan', as claimed by the headmasters. One of them even gave an account number asking them to transfer the demanded money. Though somehow the imposters managed to escape that day, a video which was shot during their visit to a school has now gone viral on social media making it clear that they had gone for an inspection.

"Identifying themselves as journalists of Adyasa and Pratigyan, they said that they have come to see the status of the school. After a brief session with the students, they sought money. We were surprised to see journalists asking for money. If at all there were irregularities, the BDO and BEO should probe. But by the time other local journalists reached the school after getting information, the duo had already left. We have called them to the temple for a discussion but not sure if they are coming," said a Principal.

It is suspected that the accused are residents of Chhendipada block in Angul district. However, no complaint has been registered with police so far.
