Koraput: The villagers of abducted MLA Jhina Hikaka along with residents of nearby villagers today staged dharna before the district collectorate demanding the immediate release of the BJD legislator from the clutches of the Maoist abductors. The delay in the release of the tribal MLA by Maoists has created anxiety among his family members and the villagers.

To secure the release of the MLA, hundreds of people of Laxmipur, Tungripadar, Toyaput, Padagarh area staged demonstration for two hours before the office of the Koraput collector.

The wife the kidnapped legislator Koushalya and his mother met the district collector and discussed the matter with him. Later on,the district collector assured the demonstrators that the administration is taking steps to secure the release of Jhina Hikaka. The district collector urged the wife and mother of abducted MLA to abstain from demonstration due to ill health.
