“They were causing inconvenience to the public by blocking the road and hence, we had to arrest them. Allegations that the collector made them wait under the sun for three hours in false,” Dhenkanal SP Satish Gajbhiye said.
On the other, the locals have informed that they blocked the road demanding supply of potable water in Kamagarapatna village and instead of looking into the matter the police officials jailed them.
“We are not being able to get drinking water in our area. Instead of solving our problem they made us wait for three hours and finally locked us up,” one of the complainants Radha said.
“The officials made us wait under the sun for three long hours and instead of solving our problem they locked us up in the jail,” another complainant Rashmita Behera said.
According to reports, the village locals on March 26 had blocked the road demanding a solution to their problems related to drinking water. However, they gave up after the police intervened into the matter.
But they had again been to meet the district collector on Saturday to bring the problem to his notice.
