Organisers across major Durga Peeths and community mandaps reported heavy footfall from early morning, as families gathered to offer prayers and seek blessings. The atmosphere now is charged with devotional fervour, blending religious observance with community celebrations.

Ravan Podi Events Lined Up

As dusk falls, Ravan Dahan or Ravan Podi ceremonies are scheduled in different parts of the state, where effigies of Ravana will be set ablaze to symbolise the victory of Lord Ram.

The event, a staple of Dussehra festivities, is expected to attract thousands, with security and crowd management measures in place at large grounds.

Rain Dampens Festivities

However, light showers caused by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal affected parts of the celebration, particularly outdoor gatherings and processions. In several districts, the drizzle has delayed ritual timings and thinned public participation during the day, though evening programmes are expected to proceed under watchful arrangements.

Despite the weather-related disruptions, Vijaya Dashami in Odisha continues to bring together devotion, culture, and community spirit.
