Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra, who is considered to be a front-runner for the post of CBI Director, has been asked to appear before DSP (Vigilance) M Radhakrishnan on December 4 for interrogation in connection with the alleged financial irregularities during his tenure as CMD of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC).

The Odisha Vigilance department served the summon to Mishra, who is currently serving as the Special Secretary (Internal Security) with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, through Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami.

Refuting the allegations, the senior IPS officer had earlier termed the charges against him as a ‘conspiracy to spoil his chances’ of being elevated to the coveted post. He also moved Orissa High Court seeking quashing of the case against him.

Hearing his petition, the court ruled that such a case can never act as an obstacle in the promotion and future posting of Mishra and that no coercive action be taken against the officer until the final adjudication of the case.
