Bhawanipatna/Jajpur: The Vigilance sleuths today raided the houses and office of Chinmaya Behura, a senior clerk at the office of the Deputy Director of Mines in Jajpur district on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The exact amount of assets has not been ascertained and sources said the details will only be known after the raids are over.

In another incident today, the anti-graft officials arrested Basanti Nayak, the supervisor of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) at Karlamunda in Kalahandi district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from one Gitanjali Nayak, an Anganwadi worker of Paria village of the district for countersigning a cheque of Rs 37,549 for supplying 'chhatua' and eggs meant for pregnant ladies and newborns.

A trap was laid by the Vigilance sleuths of Koraput division on Tuesday and Nayak was caught red-handed. A raid was also conducted at her residential house in Bhawanipatna Town.
