Khurda: Four vehicles including a car and a tipper were gutted after miscreants hurled bombs at a stone crusher unit here late last night.

The impact of the explosion was so high that the bikes parked near the boundary wall of the unit were thrown for about 15-20 metres, the investigating officials said.

Fifteen to twenty bombs are suspected to have been used in the incident, they stated after verifying charred remains of the vehicles.

Interestingly the whole incident was captured in the CCTV installed outside the unit. The footage showed four masked assailants after coming in two bikes, hurled bombs at the building of the unit, machines and the vehicles indiscreetly.

Basing on the footage, police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.

Dinesh Patel, owner of the unit alleged that some hooligans of the village were demanding Rs 10 lakh extortion money from him to which he rejected.

“It could be the handiwork of those people,” he said.

Less than a fortnight back Dhimachhagadia in the district turned into a battlefield as two groups of people from the village allegedly clashed, hurled bombs and set afire at least 60 houses.

The clashes were reportedly a result of previous enmity between the two groups. While three policemen were injured in the bomb explosion, no injury or casualty was reported in the fire incident.
