Bhubaneswar:  The preparation for the 2014 general election seems to be getting momentum day by day as all the political parties in the state are now gearing up for their share of votes.

With BJP handing over its state chief post to KV Singhdeo and Rajya Sabha MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra announcing his new political party yesterday, it’s the turn of the fledging Utkal Bharat party’s Kharabela Swain who on Wednesday announced the first list of candidates for 28 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat for the upcoming poll.

Addressing newsmen here the party president stated that the list of candidates for the rest of Assembly and Lok Sabha seats will be declared later.
Swain said, “Utkal Bharat will not forge alliance with any of the parties and go into the election with an agenda to eradicate corruption, provide good governance and efficient administration to people.”

"I'll decide about my candidature in a later stage," added Swain.

Earlier in January this year the three-time MP from Balasore had promised to make Odisha vibrant a la Gujarat with its available resources.

Swain had said with the available resources, the State can be developed. “Our main focus will be enhancement of per capita income through which poverty can be eradicated,” he said.
