Use funds soon: Jairam to Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Central Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has written a letter to the Chief Minister expressing his unhappiness over the non-utilisation of funds by the Orissa government under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP).

The Chief Minister had urged Jairam to allocate more funds for NRDWP on August 14 during his first visit to the state after taken charge of the department at the Centre. Ramesh has informed to the CM that the opening balance of NRDWP up to April 1st was 134.02 crore. And the Centre has already allocated Rs.101 crore 32 lakh from the assured sum of 213 crore in 2011-12. Ramesh has urged the CM to direct the concerned departments to spend the unutilized funds as soon as possible.

The Centre would release the funds for the second term only after submission of the utilization Certificate of the money granted in the first phase.
