Urs Utsav begins in Rajgangpur

Sundergarh: The 42nd Urs Utsav began in Rajgangpur yesterday to mark the death anniversary of Haji Hazrat Hafiz Lal Mohammad Shah.

According to ancient beliefs, devotees thronged the dargah of the Haji Hazrat Hafiz to offer ‘chadar’ seeking fulfilment of their wishes during this Utsav.

People from other religions also participated in the celebrations, sources said.

MD Kalam, member, Mazar Committee, said “The 42nd Urs Utsav is being held smoothly with participation of people from all religions.”

On the first day of the festival, a decorated ‘chadar’ was taken on a vehicle across the town and then it was offered at the dargah of Haji Hazrat Hafiz.

Thousands of devotees from across the State and its border areas, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal have come to the town to participate in the celebrations.

The local administration has made elaborate arrangements for peaceful conduct of the celebrations during the Utsav.

“All arrangements have been made to maintain law and order and peaceful conduct of the Utsav,” Bijay Kumar Nanda, SDPO, Rajgangpur said.
