Uproar in House over HC bench in W. Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Vociferous demands by Congress and BJP MLAs for setting up a permanent bench of High Court in western Odisha stalled proceedings of the Assembly on the first day of the Monsoon session which began here on Tuesday.

The House was later adjourned till 3pm.
While CLP leader Bhupinder Singh and BJPLP leader Jay Narayan Mishra lambasted the government for ignoring the persistent demands for setting up a High Court bench in western Odisha, parliamentary affairs minister Kalpataru Das criticized the Opposition for disrupting House proceedings only to gain political mileage over the issue.
To counter the Opposition onslaught, BJD MLAs led by Pushpendra Singhdeo staged a dharna near Gandhiji’s statue inside Assembly premises demanding setting up a permanent bench of High Court in western Odisha. BJD MLAs from western Odisha are also scheduled to meet the chief minister over the issue.
