Bhubaneswar: Secretary of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Anil Goswami arrived in Bhubaneswar today at around 8.30 am and directly left for the worst-hit Ganjam dist to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damages caused by cyclone Phailin. On his arrival, State’s Principal Secretary (Home) Vipin Saxena and DGP Prakash Mishra held a brief discussion about the current situation of the calamity affected areas.
 
 Goswami is scheduled to hold discussions with RDC (Southern Division), Ganjam Collector and other administrative officials about relief, restoration and rehabilitation programmes being initiated by the district administration.
 
In the afternoon, the Union Home Secretary scheduled to visit the flood-ravaged Balasore district and discuss the situation with District administration.  After his field visits, Goswami would meet Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra and his team of senior officials to discuss issues related to post-calamity relief and rehabilitation. Special Relief Commissioner Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra would apprise the Union Secretary about the losses incurred.
 
The Union Home Secretary is likely to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik before returning to New Delhi in the evening, sources said.
