Sambalpur: In yet another incident of woman atrocities, a 20-year-old girl was rescued in an unconscious condition at the PG square near Burla in Sambalpur district on Wednesday night. She has been admitted to VSS medical college and hospital at Burla.

According to sources, some local people found the girl lying on the ground in an unconscious state. They immediately rushed her to the VSS medical college and hospital where doctors admitted her to the casualty department before administering treatment.

A profusely bleeding girl was suspected to have been raped as her body bears injury marks, doctors attending her suspected. The blood sample of the victim has been sent for FMT test, they added.

“We suspect it as a case of rape for which we have kept all required documents ready for investigation,” Dr Lalmohan Nayak treating her said, adding the victim is responding treatment well.

However, it was not confirmed whether the victim was mentally deranged as she was behaving abnormally after the assault on her, the doctor said.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur SP visited the victim at the hospital and reviewed her condition. Burla police is investigating the case.
Ironically, the victim was found in such condition when a meeting chaired by Chief Miniser Naveen Patnaik was going on in the state capital over remedies to check crime against women. A slew of measures have been taken in the meeting to expedite such cases.
