Malkangiri: The personnel of District Voluntary Force (DVF) on Monday arrested two hardcore Maoists allegedly involved in the May 25 Chhatisgarh Naxal attack in which at least twenty-eight people including Chhattisgarh Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel and veteran leader Mahendra Karma were killed and 37 others were injured.
 
The ultras have been identified as Kasa Madhi and Ura Madhi of Katamateru area of the district. 
 
The DVF nabbed the duo during a combing operation, an official said.
 
According to sources, combing operation has been intensified in the nearby forests following the arrest.
 
On May 25, heavily armed Maoists had ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders at Jiram Valley in Darbha region of Chhatisgarh when it was returning from Sukma to Jagdalpur. 
 
In the attack, while 28 Congress workers including Chhattisgarh Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel and senior leader Mahendra Karma were killed and 37 others including former union minister VC Shukla were injured.
 
On June 11, Shukla died in a private hospital in New Delhi after developing multi-organ failure.
