Bhubaneswar: A business delegation from United Kingdom has evinced interest in investing in the state mining, mineral processing, infrastracture, climate change, low carbon development and other sectors.

"UK business delegation is interested to invest in the state. This is my second visit to the state within one month," British Deputy High Commissioner, Sanjay Wadvani told a gathering here while addressing a business seminar organised by the CII.

Stating that the UK has the right mix of business expertise, skill and experience to work with local industries in various sector, Wadvani said "we are already engaged with local industry and state goevrnment in a number of areas."

The infrastracture companies in the delegation would be keen to work with the state government, urban local bodies and other stakeholders in different areas like water supply, sewearage, soild water management, roads, urban transport, low income housing, Wadvani said.

In the areas of mining, he said UK companies were interested in mining projects, mining equipment and mineral processing.

"Given the rich mineral resources in Odisha, there is a very high interest from the UK mining industry in the state and many including some of the companies in the delegation, already have presence and do business with the local mining companies. We are keen to see them expanding their business activities in the state," Wadvani said.

Claiming that UK was an expert in generation of renewable energy, Wadvani said that they could also contribute to production of green power like solar and wind.
