Malkangiri/Rourkela: Bodies of two students, a schoolboy and the other a college student were found hanging at different places in the State today.

In the first incident, a Class VIII boy was found hanging from a tree inside his school hostel premises at Kendragumpha in Malkangiri district. The student has been identified as a resident of Tentuliguda area.

Sources said locals spotted his body hanging from the tree in the morning and informed the school authorities.

Though the reason behind the death of the student is yet to be ascertained, the school administration issued a clarification that the boy did not want to study however pressure from his family members might have compelled him to take the extreme step.

“He did not want to study and often returned back to his house. He even did not appear his half-yearly exams. However, his father pressurised him to continue studies and dropped him in the hostel yesterday,” said headmaster of the school, Sibadutta Sarkar.

In the other incident, a Plus III second-year student of a private college in Rourkela was found hanging inside his house in sector 2 area of the city today.

Family members spotted the body of the youth and informed the police. Cops along with forensic officials rushed to the spot and sent the body of the boy to IGH for post-mortem. Police also found a note, suspected to be written by the student before his death, from the spot. Further investigation is underway.
