Two Sisters Among Three Minors Go Missing In Jharsuguda
Jhursuguda: Three minor girls including two sisters hailing from a slum in Jhursuguda town reportedly went missing under mysterious circumstances after leaving their homes for school on Thursday.
The three girls were identified as Geeta Das (13) and her sister Rasmita (12) and Banita Chanchan, all from Puruna Basti under Gayatri Vihar police limits of Jharsuguda town.
According to sources, the trio who was studying in the Municipality High School in the locality had left their homes for school today morning. However, they did not return homes thereafter. It was not immediately ascertained whether the girls had reached their school or not.
The anxious family members of the girls launched a frantic search, but could not trace them. Later, they lodged complaints with the local police in this regard.
“My daughters left home for school at around 9.30 AM. When they did not return home till late, I went to their friends’ house to inquire about them. However, they were not there. Later, I lodged a complaint with police,” Kailash Das, father of sister duo said.
“The police had visited our house in the night and I accompanied them to bus stand, railway station and other places, but could not trace my daughters,” Das, a vegetable vendor, said.
Acting on the complaints, police registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter. The police reportedly formed three teams to trace the missing girls and contacted the Childline members. The police also issued photographs of the girls and appealed to the public to immediately inform them if anyone notices the girls.
