Two people injured after car hits auto in Sonepur, shifted to Burla hospital Photograph: (OTV)
Two persons were seriously injured after an unidentified car rammed into their auto-rickshaw on National Highway-126 near Binika–Dunguripali in Sonepur district on Monday. The car, reportedly travelling at high speed, hit the auto with great force and fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the occupants critically injured.
Victims Rescued and Initially Treated Locally
The injured have been identified as Satyanarayan Bhue of Kadalipali village and Shivdatta Panda of Antarada village. Following the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. With the help of the fire services personnel, both were taken to the Binika Group Health Centre, where they were provided initial emergency treatment.

Transferred to Burla for Advanced Treatment
As their condition remained critical, the two injured men were later shifted to Burla Medical College and Hospital for advanced medical care. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are making efforts to trace the vehicle and the driver involved in the hit-and-run case.
Local authorities have appealed to eyewitnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The accident has once again highlighted serious road safety concerns along the busy NH-126 stretch, prompting residents to demand stricter traffic monitoring and enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
