Bhubaneswar: Age-fudging resurfaced in Odisha with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) banning two cricketers from the State for two years for allegedly submitting fake age certificates.

The two players, Rajesh Mohanty and Krishna Palai, have been handed a full ban for two years. Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Sanjay Behera has confirmed that the two players have been banned for age concealing attempt.

According to sources, the BCCI action came after discrepancies were found in the age certificate submitted by the players for the current season when compared to the documents furnished by them in the last season.

The age concealing controversy has been dogging the OCA for the last several years. Earlier in October, 2016, the BCCI had suspended seven senior women cricketers and 12 Under-19 players of Odisha for a year on age fraud charges.
