Rourkela: The  team engaged in rescue operations at the Rourkela Steel Plant today fished out two more bodies from the plant's discharge tunnel taking the total death toll to four. The retrieved bodies are yet to be identified.

As the operation spanned on to the seventh day today, officials of the Rourkela police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire fighters, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and RSP’s technical team continued their search to trace the final body.

On June 3, nine youths from Rourkela’s Shitalpada area had entered the RSP waste outlet tunnel No. 9 while attempting to steal scrap from the plant. However, four of them got stuck inside the tunnel while one more youth who went inside to look for the missing four also went missing.

In another development, Supervisor of DD Builders- the construction company engaged in Bariput stone quarry at Jeypore was released on bail on Friday evening, less than 12 hours after his arrest in the morning.

The supervisor was arrested in connection with the death of two JCB operators in a stone quarry mishap on May 31.The body of Sanjay Das of Khuntakata village in Athgarh district was recovered from the debris on June 14, body of Ghanashyam Guru of Deogarh was retrieved on June 13. The two labourers had got trapped inside the stone quarry after the hill suddenly caved in while they were excavating boulders for the ongoing Telengiri Irrigation project in Bariput of Koraput district.
