Two killed after dispute over land

The group attacked a house belonging to the family of Kumbhars over some property dispute on Saturday night leading to the death of one Kalakanta Kumbhar and his brother Dasarath Kumbhar, police said.

Two others - Bidyadhar and Duran - sustained injuries in the attack and are undergoing treatment at the district headquarter hospital here. They are stable, doctors said. IIC of Saintala police station Chatrapati Kanra said the incident was believed to have taken place over a dispute relating to occupation of a piece of government land.

As tension prevailed in the area, police force was deployed in the village to prevent further flare up, he said adding 16 people have been rounded in connection with the incident.
