Bhubaneswar: After failing to get their grievances redressed, two job aspirants attempted self-immolation in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Grievance Cell in Bhubaneswar today. However, the security personnel present at the spot thwarted such attempts and the job aspirants were immediately escorted from the spot.

According to reports, both the aspirants were upset over the fact that the authorities have still not provided them jobs under the Odisha government’s Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme.

One of the aspirants alleged that his father, who was a headmaster in a school in Kalahandi, died some 30 years back. Despite visiting the concerned offices of School and Mass Education Department several times and meeting other officials, his application has still not been considered.

"We have been running from pillar to post, but have failed to get our grievances redressed," said one of the aspirants.

The authorities of the School and Mass Education Department could not be contacted over such allegations.
