Cuttack: Two persons including a woman sustained critical injuries after a mini-truck rammed into a shop near Bangalisahi in the Cuttack today. The vehicle was engaged in Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-funded Odisha Integrated Sanitation project in the city, sources said.

According to reports, the mishap occurred after truck lost control and rammed the vehicle into a roadside shop leaving the couple critically injured. The duo was then immediately rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack. However, their condition is stated to be critical, informed sources.

Meanwhile, the incident sparked huge resentment among the local residents as they opposing the construction work. The residents further alleged that several houses in the locality have also developed cracks owing to the underground digging work carried out by JICA for lying of pipelines.

The authorities of district administration and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) could not be contacted over the incident.
