Rourkela: A local fast-track court has sentenced two persons to rigorous life imprisonment for killing a man in 2010. The fast-track court judge Gobabandhu Patnaik yesterday convicted Deiptiranjan Palaur and Pratap Nayak for killing one of their friends Uttam Rout on August 5, 2010.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each. According to prosecution, Diptiranjan, Pratap and a minor boy Jugun had called Uttam to a place and they all consumed liquor. The trio attacked Uttam with bi-cycle chain, sharp weapons and broken wine bottles and killed him. They threw the body on a nearby railway track in Panposh area.

Uttam`s brother complained to police after his brother`s body was found on railway track under Rourkela GRP. The GRP had arrested all the three accused. While Diptiranjan and Pratap were convicted by the fast track court, the trial against third accused Jugun was continuing in the juvenile court.
