Berhampur: Two forest department personnel were injured when wild elephants attacked them at Kodia-Alapur village near Narayani in Ganjam district today. Forest department sources said the elephant attacked forester Trinath Sethi and forest guard Hrusikesh Mishra in Khallikote forest range.

While Sethi was being treated at the hospital at Khallikote, Mishra, who got a leg fractured, was admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, the sources said. The condition of both was stated to be stable.

Divisional forest officer, Berhampur AK Jena said the elephant herd attacked them when they went to drive away the animals from the village to save the people. The herd of 15 elephants was believed to have migrated from nearby Barbara jungle, sources said.
