Two dead after head-on collision between private bus and scooter in Odisha’s Bhadrak

A head-on collision between a scooter and a private bus on the Bhadrak–Chandbali road left two people dead on Saturday. The accident occurred near Kamaria Chhak under Pirahat police station limits in Bhadrak district.

The private bus, travelling from Chandbali towards Bhadrak, collided head-on with a scooter coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the death of Golak Das and Daitari Puhan from the Tihidi Saya Balichaturi area.

Tension escalated at the accident site after it emerged that one of the deceased, Golak Das, was the brother of Abadhi Das, the current chairperson of Tihidi block. 

Eyewitnesses alleged that the bus was being driven recklessly and that the driver failed to notice the scooter approaching from the opposite side due to negligence. Both vehicles were reportedly at high speed at the time of the impact, and the collision was so severe that the two victims died on the spot.

Following the crash, residents detained the private bus, but the driver fled the scene. Locals expressed anger, claiming that the bus was on the wrong side of the wide road. Many demanded compensation for the victims’ families.

Pirahat police have reached the spot, initiated an investigation, and are working to control the situation and clear the road for smooth movement of vehicles, informed sources.
