Two critical as gas cylinder explodes inside hotel in Odisha's Ganjam

Two people sustained serious injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at a hotel near Chikiti bus stand in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday. The incident occurred when cooking was in progress at the establishment, leading to a sudden explosion that caused panic in the area.

Following the explosion, the injured individuals were immediately taken to a local hospital in Chikiti for initial treatment. They were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for further medical care as their condition was reported to be critical.

Fire Brought Under Control

On getting information, the fire brigade personnel reached the site and managed to bring the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The prompt response of the fire personnel helped in containing the situation and avoiding further damage.

Police Begin Investigation

Police officials have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause that triggered the explosion. Preliminary findings suggest that the blast took place while cooking activities were underway, but a detailed inquiry is being conducted to confirm whether it was due to a gas leak or a technical fault in the cylinder, as sources said.
